As an intern, you'll be part of a team developing rapid groundbreaking solutions for the world’s most complex health challenges.  Our associates are involved in every stage of molecular diagnostics – from ideation and innovation through development and delivery of life-changing advancements in healthcare-associated infections, sexual health, critical infectious disease, virology and oncology applications.  It takes people willing to bring their whole selves to work, operating with imagination, with initiative and achieving more than they ever thought possible. 

The Chemistry and Array R&D Summer Intern is responsible for developing novel chemistries and assay methods for a highly multiplexed genomic platform which is at the basis of the next generation of Cepheid’s diagnostic products.

This position is part of the Chemistry and Array R&D Team and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA (full-time on-site). At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Learn to develop and optimize complex assays at the interface of chemistry, molecular biology, and bioengineering
• Perform amplification experiments using benchtop qPCR and Cepheid’s Biochip platform

The essential requirements of the job include: 

• College student (Junior or Senior) majoring in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or Bioengineering
• Previous course exposure to DNA and RNA biochemistry
• Experience in handling small quantities of liquids, pipetting. 

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• PCR amplification, particularly qPCR
• Research experience in the field of DNA and RNA chemistry or biochemistry
