Children's Center Teacher Classroom Aide
The WSU Children’s Center is accepting applications for Classroom Teacher Aides in each of our seven classrooms serving children - infants through school age. As an aide you will work with MN state licensed childhood teachers providing child-focused education and care between 7:00 am – 5:00 pm. The position offers flexible part-time schedules and full-time schedules during the summer and university breaks.
The ideal candidate will enjoy children and work cooperatively to provide a safe and secure environment for children, parents & staff. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- · Preparing materials for the classroom or bulletin boards,
- · Work with individual and small groups of children
- · Maintain detailed classroom records
- · Coordinate with classroom teacher for daily tasks
- · Keep children safe
- · Optimistic and cheerful demeanor
Qualifications
- As part of the screening process, applicants interviewed will be asked to work with the children in the classroom for evaluation of interactions.
- The WSU Children's Center provides student staff with a DHS (Department of Human Services) mandatory background check and finger printing.
- Student staff complete annual DHS training (Risk Management, AHT, SUIDS, Blood Borne Pathogens, Mandatory Reporting, Allergy Prevention, etc.) and must complete a Pediatric First Aid/CPR training every 2 years. These trainings are the responsibility of the student and will be unpaid but recorded on their DHS Training record to be added to a resume.
