Location/Division Specific Information
The Marietta Manufacturing site is one manufacturing site for the Laboratory Products Division within Thermo Fisher Scientific. Our laboratory equipment products are used primarily by pharmaceutical companies for drug discovery and development and by biotechnology companies, universities for life science research to advance the prevention and cure of diseases and improve quality of life. Our products consist of equipment, accessories, and services for sample preparation, analysis, storage, and protection.
How will you make an impact?
You will provide engineering and technical support to manufacturing production cells by recommending and applying engineering methods to improve processes, enhance product quality, eliminate waste, reduce cycle time, and improve operating performance to meet on time delivery and customer happiness.
What will you do?
- Evaluate economic feasibility of capital projects and prepare justifications.
- Collect, process, and evaluate information/data, resulting in recommendations for a course of action to management.
- Develop machine/personnel requirements and utilization for long-range business plans.
- Develop and maintain appropriate documentation throughout the manufacturing process.
- Resolve technical issues to achieve production efficiency and quality goals.
- Recommend Manufacturing processes, procedures, tools, equipment, production cell layouts, and methods for improvement.
- Actively participate in New Product Development (NPD) cycle to optimize product manufacturability and efficiency.
- Preferred Experience
- General understanding of hard goods manufacturing processes and machinery
- good analytical ability to analyze current procedures and make recommendations for improvement to management.
- Knowledge of various sheet metal fabrication and welding procedures and practices.
- Hands on experience with tools and equipment
- Ability to evaluate and resolve complicated problems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and understand CAD drawings.
- CAD skills- SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD (a plus)
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must be enrolled in an undergraduate program - Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering or similar field of study.
0-3 years experience preferred.
