CD Counselor/Therapist
The Chemical Dependency Counselor/Therapist performs assessments which include the identification of cultural differences in planning for patient care; provides treatment according to assignment to adults (and adolescents when appropriate) according to accepted standards; incorporates knowledge and theoretical concepts into all facets of interaction with patients; demonstrates competency in the provision of service; formulates diagnostic impressions; determines the appropriate level of care; provides appropriate referral for follow up; documents clearly, concisely and according to policy.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Associate degree in a related field + 3 years addiction counseling experience OR bachelor’s or master’s degree in related field. Must meet OASAS’ Provisional QHP or CASAC designation upon hire.
CERTIFICATION: Qualified Healthcare Professional (QHP) status per NYS OASAS Regulations Part 800.2 required within 3 years of hire.
