Illustration and Design Student Assistant

The University of Akron Press seeks an Illustration and Design Student Assistant. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create illustrations for use in book interiors, covers, and for marketing purposes
• Create promotional content for print, web, and social media platforms
• Create new product catalogs and update existing ones
• Provide feedback on cover and interior designs, check page proofs
• Maintain and update materials as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud, particularly InDesign and Illustrator
• A basic understanding of design principles, typography classes a plus
• Must be self-motivated and follow instructions (both written and verbal)
• Strong written and oral communications skills
• Dependable, friendly, cooperative, and organized

Note: Illustration portfolio required at submission. Short design exam required before interview.

UA student employees must be 18 years or older at the time of their start date. Any approved remote work conducted by student employees MUST be performed within the state of Ohio.
