Nuclear Power School (NPS) Instructor

NPS Instructors train all Officer and Enlisted fleet members of the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program in Charleston, SC. You will gain valuable teaching experience in an exciting and technologically advanced curriculum. NPS Instructors teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in a campus like environment. Subjects taught include mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, heat transfer and fluid flow, materials, chemistry, radiological fundamentals, and reactor plant engineering. 

Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU) Instructor

The capstone of the rigorous nuclear training pipeline is the operational and highly dynamic Nuclear Power Training Unit. These extremely sophisticated training reactors are located in Charleston, SC and Ballston Spa, NY. The highly trained instructors ensure all fleet members of the nuclear program, both officer and enlisted, receive proper training for successful transition to submarines and aircraft carriers. You will expand your operational leadership and managerial experience by leading a watchteam running one of the most dynamic nuclear power plants in the world. 

Launch your career as an Instructor before you finish college! Apply to the Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate (NUPOC) Program. As a Future Nuclear Officer in the NUPOC program you may earn up to $195,000 for up to 30 months all while in school!

Program selection includes:

-Regular monthly income up to $6,500 for up to 30 months prior to graduation

-Housing Allowance based on the location of your school

-Food allowance

-Medical health care benefits

Use this money for tuition, books, or anything else you need. Have the financial freedom to accomplish your collegiate goals. No uniform or drills, just school full-time, and the chance to graduate debt free.

Post-Graduates: May also apply for this program. Must have completed a bachelor's degree and are presently enrolled in a master's degree program at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States or its territories, and are within 1 academic year of attaining master's degree.

Requirements:

-Age: At least 19 and no more than 29 years of age at commissioning. Waivers, position specific, up to 41.

-Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required.

-Education: Within 2.5 academic years of graduation. Minimum of 1 year each of Calculus-based physics and mathematics through differential and integral calculus with a "B" or better. Instructors must be majoring in a technical field such as physics, mathematics, chemistry, or engineering.

-GPA: >3.4
