The State Water Resources Control Board is seeking an experienced and collaborative media and communications professional, bilingual in Spanish, to join its Communications Office and work with the team of experts implementing the state’s Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA).
The Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) Communications Specialist is a nonsupervisory staff Specialist, bilingual in Spanish, who possesses an advanced level of media and communications expertise. The Specialist functions as a project leader, overseeing the work of others in a task force-type setting while acting as a highly skilled and independent consultant who can act authoritatively on issues within their portfolio. The Specialist is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive information program for a new and sensitive area of water management. The goals of this information program are to foster accurate, engaging reporting by the media and other information sources that expands public interest in groundwater issues and evokes greater participation in the board’s decision-making processes, especially among residents of groundwater basins that the board may be managing—or considering managing—under Sustainable Groundwater Management Act authorities.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
