Public Service Intern - Spring 2024
The County of Ventura is excited to present the Public Service Intern program for the Spring 2024 semester. The program is geared toward students interested in embarking in a career in government service. The program objectives are as follows:
- To establish talent pipelines with various colleges and universities to assist the County in filling positions which require specialized technical expertise.
- To expose and market the benefits, rewards, and opportunities afforded to those who choose a career in public service.
- To allow the County to leverage the talents of highly capable individuals who are eager to demonstrate the skills they may bring to the table.
The ideal candidates will be currently enrolled in colleges or graduate school and will demonstrate a commitment to accomplishment and a disposition to provide the highest level of service. We are seeking those who are enrolled in courses or fields of study which are highly applicable to public service at the County of Ventura including administration, law enforcement, finance, information technology, human resources, health care, outreach, elections, airport operations, and fire service.
The formal program shall last approximately one semester (January 16 – April 26, 2024). Placements will be in various departments and include performing work related to the specific industry.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
No experience is required but candidates must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities. Students must provide proof that they are enrolled in at least three (3) units of academic/technical college/university courses.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Some jobs may require a valid California driver license.
Some positions highly desire bilingual skills in English & Spanish.
