Distribution Assistant

University Store

Summary
The Mizzou Store is responsible for supporting the academic mission of University of Missouri, as well as supporting the MU brand through the sale of emblematic merchandise.

This position is primarily responsible for performing various customer service and retail sales functions.

This position assists in the daily operations of the The Mizzou Store Distribution Area.  

Responsibilities include receiving, order processing, transferring product, adjusting quantities within locations, reconciling inventory balances, and shipping product to various locations.

Perform a variety of distribution duties including processing incoming and outgoing orders and/or transfers, pricing merchandise, cleaning / preparing merchandise, assisting with deliveries and organizing materials.

Assist with shipments and unloading of trucks as needed; log shipments and invoices for incoming packages, utilizing knowledge of SKU’s, UPC’s, ISBN’s, and other retail data and complete pick-lists and transfers for retail departments.

Identify errors in shipments and resolve prior to completing the receiving and/or transfer process.

Ensure product is packaged correctly and staged in appropriate location for delivery, backstock or shipping.

Deliver product as assigned, including loading, and unloading truck/van, making delivery runs to various locations, and helping with rush orders.

Maintain positive communications with departmental representatives in the course of delivery.

Additional Responsibilities

Maintain thorough knowledge of all departments on the sales floor including a functional understanding of how textbooks are organized, where clothing items are back-stocked, how general reading books are arranged, etc.  

Remain proficient at operating a cash register to answer questions, but also supplement cashier staff, especially during peak times.

Physical Requirements

Position requires sitting, standing, and walking.

Must be able to bend, squat, and reach on occasion.

Capable of lifting, moving, and transporting materials on occasion.

Duties imply the use of a computer and other office technology involving fine finger movements.

Communicate orally and in writing with various audiences.

Additional physical demands based on specific department needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of valid Class E Missouri Driver's License is desirable in order to assist with deliveries and home football game setup.

Ability to operate small to medium size vehicles, two-wheel carts and other material handling equipment required for performance of duties.

Physical range of motion as necessary to perform duties, including standing, walking, sitting, and lifting heavy weights (50 lbs. and above).

Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment.

Mathematical and analytical skills in order to train others, and identify and solve problems.

Strong reading comprehension in order to follow written instructions, prepare work related documents and communicate in writing.

Previous warehouse experience within a retail operation in order to have the knowledge of inventory value, product identification numbers, and returns process to vendors.

Knowledge of invoices and purchase orders.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, task-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Visual acuity to determine if merchandise, product, or logo/imprint is acceptable in color, hue, aligned, etc.

Shifts

Hours will vary between Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with some weekends
Salary
$12.00 hourly
