Work Study Student Worker-Teacher Aide
Student Workers are a vital part of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Children’s Learning Center program. Student Workers help to provide a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment where self concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality is respected. Previous experience working with children preferred. With that in mind, below are the criteria or job responsibilities for the position of Work Study Student Worker:
1. Help to offer a program that meets the emotional, physical, social and intellectual development of both the individual and the group.
2. Help prepare a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean, and appealing.
3. Use consistent, positive, and appropriate discipline.
4. Encourage independence while still being nurturing.
5. Interact with the children and encourage their involvement in activities/lessons.
6. Help teach the classes.
7. Help establish and maintain a good line of communication between co-workers.
8. Engage in team work with other staff in order to promote a healthy, happy atmosphere for all the children and their families.
9. Help maintain children’s portfolios by collecting data during the day and filing.
10. Ensure all training hours are met per licensing and university requirements.
11. Attend all staff meetings and In Service days.
