Engineering Project Manager

- This position will be located in Vacaville, and will require travel to other locations for projects in process. The days you are not traveling, you can work remotely from home 2-3 days per week.
- We are looking for someone with experience with landfill, or earthwork, landfill gases, composting work, drainage, roadway and biology and mechanical systems)

THE ROLE
Establishes and executes project plans for existing and future engineering activities, including communication to stakeholders and assignment of tasks to appropriate resources.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Responsible for developing, executing and maintaining a structured project management methodology applicable across the enterprise to deliver projects within agreed upon scope, budget and schedule in a manner that is well communicated across all stakeholders.
- Develops, implements and concurrently manages multiple engineering projects and plans.
- Reviews and validates technical consultants work products and recommendations and ensures timely delivery.
- Works with various regulatory agencies, takes projects through design, permitting and implementation phases.
- Coordinates and executes ground water and site investigations.
- Communicates and coordinates effectively with regulators who govern Recology’s facilities.
- Represents Recology’s interests in a positive manner to both internal and external audiences and stakeholders.
- Serves as an advocate of the company.
- Engages in research and related projects to advance Recology’s environmental, compliance and sustainability objectives.
- Manages engineering activities to maintain project schedules, control resources and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Develops and oversees multi-discipline teams to complete projects within budget and on schedule.
- May manage a team of technology and engineering professionals.
- Oversees and coordinates services of consultants and contractors.
- Ensures compliance with Recology health and safety programs.
- Ensures compliance with regulations, company policy, safe practices, and high standards of environmental protection.
- Takes part in permitting and compliance activities, including obtaining entitlements and coordinating environmental due diligence.
- Maintains working knowledge of engineering, waste/recycling, and composting practices as well as environmental laws and regulations.
- Travels to multiple locations (intra- and inter-state) for meetings and on-site visits.
QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
- Experience managing projects and people supporting engineering, planning, compliance or related activities.
- Technical and professional engineering principles, practices, laws, applications and programs.
- Current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
- Principles of personnel training, supervision and evaluation.
- Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning and budgeting.
- Computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite of applications and using data to inform and set priorities and identify challenges/opportunities.
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Possession of a valid state Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer.
- Valid Driver’s License.
