Landscape Design Assistant (Residential)

Who you are: We are currently seeking a creative and driven Residential Landscape Design Assistant to join our Residential Design team! You will gain valuable experience and knowledge about the landscape Design+Build process from concept to completion. Our talented designers and estimators are graduates of the OSU Landscape Architecture program and have many years of experience with residential, commercial and municipal projects. Learn from the best!

Job Description: Assist the Residential Design team in all aspects of the design process, estimation, sales and project construction. Acquire the skills necessary to become a qualified landscape designer or estimator. This position will consist of a mix of office and onsite work (so you can spend some time in the great outdoors!) and will vary based on current projects and time of year.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Site Analysis/Survey: Record detailed dimension and elevations; Inventory existing plant material, utility locations and site amenities; Sketch site conditions and layout; Photograph a comprehensive view of project site.
  • Drawing Landscape Plans and Details: Draft primarily in AutoCad; Convey design concepts through hand-drawing as well as graphic mediums such as Photoshop and 3D Modeling; Collaborate with designers to adapt and develop cohesive landscape plans for construction.
  • Project Estimation: Complete takeoffs for landscape plans; Quantify work areas and plant material; Work with subcontractors and suppliers to source materials and quotes; Create detailed project proposals.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Completion (or 2023 graduation date) of Landscape Architecture/Landscape Design or related program.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, SketchUp or other 3D Modeling software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated, attention to detail, work well in a Team environment to complete projects and problem solve on the fly.  Also able to work independently.
  • Effective communication skills - verbal, written and through sketches to share complex ideas with both the Design Team and clients.
  • Valid driver's license.
