Spiritual Counselor - Hospice
SPIRITUAL COUNSELOR - Schuylkill County and Hazleton Territory - F/T
Job Summary:
Provides spiritual care to terminally ill patients and families and assesses and provides bereavement support to families and caregivers. Acts as a liaison between the family, patient, clergy, and community.
Education - Required:
- Master's Degree Divinity or
- Master's Degree Related Field
Education - Preferred:
- Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) training, equivalent training in spiritual counseling in a clinical setting, or ordained/licensed or commissioned by appropriate religious body.
Experience - Required:
- 1 year Experience with the needs of the terminally ill, death and dying, bereavement, and grief management. and
- 1 year Experience with providing spiritual counseling services.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Required:
- Basic understanding of health care organizations and procedures.
- Emotional maturity and ability to cope and work effectively with stress of continual loss.
- High level of biblical knowledge.
- Skilled in crucial end of life and other complex communication.
- Understanding of the psycho-social issues related to families in crisis and end of life issues.
- Knowledge of community resources related to patient's spiritual care needs.
- Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Certifications - Required:
- Health Services\BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire
