Vehicle Structures Engineer (M.S./Ph.D.)

Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Associate Body Structure Crashworthiness Engineer for our Vehicle Engineering Practice in Farmington Hills, MI. In this role, you will work as part of a team on structural analysis of vehicle collisions. The candidate should be technically talented with good hands-on skills, have excellent communication skills, and be motivated to ultimately develop their own consulting practice and grow professionally within Exponent. Candidates will be expected to work from our office in Farmington Hills.

You will be responsible for

  • Engineering analysis
  • Vehicle safety research
  • Hands-on automotive work
  • Vehicle inspections country-wide
  • Preparing written reports and presenting results/findings to diverse audiences

You will have the following skills and qualifications

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) and basic knowledge of automotive systems
  • CAD experience
  • P.E. license or the willingness to obtain a P.E. license 
  • A fundamental interest and basic knowledge base in the automotive field
  • Must be versatile, team-oriented, willing to work overtime and travel when required
  • Must possess strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to synthesize technical information and present it to specialists and non-specialists alike
  • Clear written communication and technical writing skills are required
  • Must have a proven dedication to quality and accuracy
