Summer Camp Specialty Diets Chef

Who we are

Camp Cody is a co-ed Summer Camp in Freedom, New Hampshire. Since 1926, we have been providing unique experiences for campers and staff of all ages worldwide. Our Cody team is made up of teachers, athletes, coaches, creatives, hikers, bikers, travelers, and so much more. Together, we provide a safe and fun environment where campers and staff create life-long memories. 


What you’ll be doing

The Speciality Diets Chef will be part of the Kitchen Team. Prepare and serve baked goods and desserts for up to 700 campers and staff over an 11-week period. Must be a highly organized team player. Ensure the campers and staff receive a warm welcome and that service runs smoothly.


What we need from you

  • Assist in the daily operations of the center’s food service. 
  • Plan and execute a biweekly menu
  • Prepare and cook nutritious and delicious meals tailored to meet the dietary restrictions and allergies of campers and staff. 
  • Ensure all special diet meals are flavorful, visually appealing, and meet Camp Cody's high culinary standards.
  • Set up food, supplies, and utensils for dining hall distribution.
  • Employ food safety best practices
  • Coordinate allergen and special diet options for all baked goods. 
  • Assist in routine sanitation of the kitchen and related equipment. 
  • Clean and maintain all food preparation and storage areas. 
  • Reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle as indicated through the camp’s procedures.
  • Works quickly and accurately during busy periods
  • Willingness to take on extra duties, such as cleaning and dishwashing as a team member. 

What skills & experience you’ll bring to us

  • Proven experience in working within the hospitality
  • Proficiency in understanding and accommodating a wide range of special diets and allergies.
  • Prior experience working with clients who have special dietary needs, allergies, or food sensitivities.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced camp environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Physical ability to operate kitchen equipment according to safe recommended methods.
  • Displays an energetic and positive personality. 
  • High School Diploma
  • 2-3 years of experience working in a kitchen environment, with a strong focus on preparing special diet meals.
  • ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety certification.
  • Desire to learn in a training-forward environment
  • Understanding of special diet and allergy needs
  • Servsafe certified with excellent working knowledge of accepted sanitation standards
  • Ability to use slicers, stand mixers, grinders, food processors, etc. 
  • Team Mentality


Salary & benefits
