Planner-Urban Design Intern

Bolton & Menk is now accepting applications for our 2024 summer internship season in our Charlotte, Raleigh and Wilmington locations. For over 70 years Bolton & Menk, Inc. has served public and private clients with planning, urban design, landscape architecture, engineering and surveying services.

What you will be doing:

In this role you will provide support to Project Managers for services related to city and town planning; urban design; transportation planning and comprehensive plan development. Planning projects will vary with emphasis on small area plans, corridor planning downtown master planning, transportation, parks, and trails.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Degree Programs: Selected candidates will be enrolled in a urban planning, landscape architecture or other closely related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Current Status: Desired is Sophomore or above with completed coursework in planning principles and knowledge of land sue.
• Students must have general knowledge in related software (i.e., ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suites, Sketchup, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Students must possess a valid driver’s license and their own transportation. You will be reimbursed for business-related travel.
• Students must have the ability to read, speak and write English clearly as this position interacts with City staff, City residents, contractors, and sub-contractors.

Each year we look for a variety of experiences, education, and ability for our student intern pool. Some positions may be filled with students who have experience depending on the level of complexity a project or client may require. Preference may be given to students who have completed a previous internship with Bolton & Menk.

Relocation and housing are not included.
