Summary:
To plan, develop, coordinate and monitor Civics and Social Studies K-12 educational programs in NH schools to ensure compliance with state regulations by providing technical assistance and consulting services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master's degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in Education or a master’s degree relevant to the position.
Experience: Seven years' experience in the field of education, five years of which must be relevant experience in Social Studies and Civics K-12 instruction.
Preferred Qualifications: Education and experience in developing and providing professional learning opportunities in Social Studies, Civics and World Languages. Grant writing and/or management experience.
License/Certification: Eligibility for NH educational certification. Eligibility for New Hampshire driver’s license and/or access to transportation for use in statewide travel.
Responsibilities:
· Conducts reviews and evaluations of educational programming in Civics, Social Studies and World Languages in K-12 schools. Analyzes local school data, makes comparisons to state and national data, and develops recommendations and plans to improve programming. Then supports the implementation of improvement plans by providing technical assistance to schools and programs.
· Conducts onsite monitoring and desk monitoring of educational standards, assessments and practices for K-12 Civics, Social Studies and World Languages content area and develops plans recommending approval actions and provides technical support in implementing improvement actions.
· Analyzes and interprets federal and state legislation and regulations for content standards, assessments and practices for K-12 Civics, Social Studies and World Languages content area for the purpose of implementing educational programs in NH K-12 schools, and to ensure compliance with state policies and regulations.
· Creates, designs and develops professional development materials to instruct the educational community, parents, and other stakeholders on the standards, instruction, assessment, promising practices and professional growth related to Civics, Social Studies and World Languages.
· Evaluates, analyzes, and interprets current research and recommendations for improving Civics, Social Studies and World Languages K-12; disseminate information relative to promising practices and assessments to local educators, educational agencies, businesses and professional associations in meeting community needs.
· Prepares annual and regular reports, publications, and studies related to standards, instruction, assessment and professional development in Civics, Social Studies and World Languages K-12.
· Explains and defends operational practices and educational programming; provides testimony, when requested, regarding proposed changes in state laws affecting standards, instruction, and professional development in Civics, Social Studies and World Languages K-12.
· Prepares grant requests, plans and implements grant submissions programs including preparing budgets, researching funding opportunities, monitoring expenditures, identifying support agencies, and tracking results.
