Wildlife Biologist - Advanced - Captive Wildlife Specialist
This position exists to ensure statewide consistency in the implementation of captive wildlife programs and policies and broaden public understanding and support for wildlife rehabilitation and captive wildlife policies. The Captive Wildlife Health Specialist leads the execution and development of captive wildlife and rehabilitation policies and guidance for the DNR. This position also administers the statewide wildlife rehabilitation program and serves as the law enforcement liaison and wildlife management program advisor for statewide captive wildlife policies, including Illegally Possessed Wildlife Guidance. This position collaborates with external partners, researchers, license holders and interacts directly with members of the public, including functioning as the chair of the Wildlife Rehabilitation Advisory Committee. This individual will also be responsible for contributing to the development of outreach materials, especially related to the prevention of illegally held wildlife situations and may have the opportunity to revamp the existing Keep Wildlife Wild campaign.
This person will be a member of the Wildlife Health Section, a small team of dedicated staff who are committed to protecting and enhancing the health of Wisconsin’s wildlife and helping all people connect with our state’s wildlife resources.
