Job Description:

Responsible for the design of new and enhanced optical product subsystems that meet performance and cost requirements. Provides support to QVI manufacturing organizations ensuring design intent is appropriately applied in a way the meets expected performance.  

  1. Designs, builds, and tests optical subsystems and presents results that demonstrate conformance to requirements and provides recommendations for improvement.
  2. Develops test documentation including manufacturing test procedures.
  3. Builds, aligns, and verifies prototype optical systems against optical designs and requirements.
  4. Develops and documents sensitivity analyses for new optical designs that optimize manufacturability.
  5. Completes the engineering release of all documentation for production manufacturing.

 

Requirements

 

 

1. Hands-on working experience with optical components, subsystems, and lab instrumentation including the set up and use of interferometers, spectrometers, and MTF measurement equipment.

2. Experience in the interpretation of interferometric data and interferograms.

3. Optical subsystem verification and troubleshooting experience that involves cross-discipline attributes such as mechanical, electrical, and software.

4. Working competency with lens design software such as OSLO, ZEMAX, or equivalent.

5. Optical subsystem commercialization experience desired.

6. Illumination design experience desired.

7. 3+ years’ experience working in an optical design and/or manufacturing environment desired.
