The MOOSE framework is being developed by Idaho, Argonne and Los Alamos National Laboratory as the basis for advanced nuclear energy systems modeling and simulation. One of the physics involved in modeling advanced reactors is coolant flow or computational fluid dynamics. This is especially the case for molten salt reactors where the fuel is traveling across the primary loop in a liquid form.

These simulations are typically hard to initialize as the initial guesses are far from satisfying the flow conservation equations. The intern will develop innovative initialization techniques that will facilitate molten salt reactor simulations.
