Operational Audit Intern

CHS has an exciting summer internship opportunity with the Internal Audit function in our Legal & Compliance group. The Operational Audit Intern will work with Internal Audit managers and staff to execute projects of varying complexity and scope in different CHS business units, functions and geographies. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidates should also be detail oriented, data savvy and open minded. Finally, we are looking for candidates with strong problem-solving abilities and a can-do attitude

Responsibilities

  • Gain real world experience by working on internal audit engagements and learning about the global commodity trade flows
  • Receive training on how to plan and execute operational audits, including performing risk assessments, documenting business processes, risks, internal controls, and developing audit testing procedures
  • Perform audit assignments, such as participating in process and control walkthroughs, preparing audit narratives/flow charts, performing audit testing procedures, identifying internal control gaps and business inefficiencies, and summarizing audit testing results
  • Build relationships with all levels of management and senior leaders, including presenting audit status, issues identified, recommendations, and corrective/preventive action plans

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Agriculture, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI)
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving

Additional Qualifications

  • 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Experience with finance concepts and financial reporting (balance sheet and income statement)
  • Experience with audit analytical tools such as ACL, IDEA, Alteryx, or others
  • Coursework or experience involving data visualization platforms such as PowerBI
