Operations Support Specialist - Part Time

Job Description

Participate in activity for sample registration, and related activities including customer communications, telephone, e-mail, fax, and some lab support activities when applicable.

Responsibilities and Duties

General:

Specific:

  • Receive, prepare, categorize and organize incoming samples for entry
  • Register samples, label, proof, divide and deliver to labs
  • Communicate to Group Lead and appropriate lab staff regarding short seed including request for additional, where appropriate
  • Participate in ensuring prioritization of sample registration
  • Prepare, distribute, and retain Sample Entry Reports appropriately
  • Update sample data and issue revised Sample Entry Reports where changes are needed
  • Assist to deliver consumables to labs
  • Ship sample bags, ICO samples, etc. using FedEx, UPS, others as requested
  • Answer and direct phone calls
  • Mail final official EBDI testing certificates
  • Effectively communicate personnel issues to Group Lead
  • Participate in maintaining ISO documentation
  • Assist customers and Group Lead with handling out-of-specification samples, investigations, root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action plans
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding customer, samples, and employee information
  • Cross train/work in labs on an as needed basis
  • Assistance in seed disposal event disposal of retain samples and waste

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in administrative or related field preferred.
  • The incumbent must have good organizational skills and have the ability to communicate with subordinates, peers, supervisors, and possibly customers.
  • Be a highly energetic, innovative, creative, people person.
  • Effective communicator and have the ability to work across functional areas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Competent with use of Microsoft applications:  Excel, Word, One Note, and Power Point
  • Flexible, open to change and new ideas
