Position Summary

Reporting to the Division Dean, the Health Sciences Accreditation Specialist provides essential administrative and logistical support to the Health Sciences, Education, and Wellness Institute. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist with programmatic accreditation, manage documentation, coordinate meetings, and ensure compliance with accreditation standards for all accredited programs within the Institute.

The specialist collaborates closely with deans, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to develop and maintain accreditation activities while actively contributing to quality improvement initiatives and ongoing recordkeeping. The specialist is responsible for collecting and organizing data and implementing regulatory quality improvement processes to develop a standardized accreditation process within the Institute. Additionally, this role will coordinate with the office of Effectiveness, Research & Analytics where programmatic and college accreditation processes intersect.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule

Position Salary Range: $81,734/year - $118,514/year

The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Typically, new hire starts no higher than $90,929/year based on Bellevue College Exempt salary schedule.

About the Department

The Health Sciences, Education & Wellness Institute (HSEWI) fosters successful completion of our diverse students' education goals, as well as advocates life-long wellness, learning, teaching, and service excellence. We provide a wide variety of accessible, rigorous, and engaging professional/technical courses, programs, and credentials that are responsive to individual, institutional, and community needs, prospects, and opportunities. Our Institute is comprised of sixteen unique programs which focus on providing excellent education and training for many professions in healthcare, education, and wellness.

Essential Functions

Accreditation Support

• Collaborate with deans, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with accreditation standards for all accredited programs within the Institute.
• Coordinate accreditation activities, including understanding and staying updated on accreditation standards, requirements, and timelines.
• Prepare, maintain, and manage documentation related to accreditation processes, ensuring all necessary materials are collected, and organized quarterly, and data is prepared for submission in a timely manner.
• Support the development and implementation of a standardized accreditation process, including the creation of documentation templates and guidelines.
• Stay informed about any changes or updates in accreditation standards and communicate relevant information to stakeholders.
• Assists in the preparation of reports and presentations related to accreditation activities.
• Collaborate closely with subject matter experts and program leadership to ensure active involvement of disciplines and their expertise in the accreditation process.

Documentation Management

• Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation related to accreditation processes, ensuring proper organization, storage, and accessibility.
• Update and revise documentation as needed to reflect changes in accreditation standards or requirements.
• Develop and implement documentation templates and guidelines to facilitate standardized documentation practices.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to gather necessary information for documentation purposes.
• Ensure the confidentiality and security of accreditation-related documentation.

Compliance and Quality Improvement

• Develop quality improvement initiatives within the Institute as it relates to recordkeeping, file sharing, and records storage.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify areas for improvement in accreditation activities.
• Participate in quality assurance reviews and audits to assess compliance with accreditation standards.
• Collect and analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in the accreditation process.
• Assist Dean in developing and implementing strategies and initiatives to address identified areas for improvement.

Meeting Coordination

• Schedule and coordinate meetings related to accreditation activities, ensuring all relevant stakeholders are involved.
• Prepare meeting agendas and distribute them to participants in advance.
• Compile and distribute meeting materials, including documentation, reports, and presentations.
• Record and document meeting minutes accurately to capture key discussions, decisions, and action items.
• Participate in, and document minutes for Advisory Board meetings for accredited programs.
• Follow up on action items and communicate necessary information to relevant parties.
• Foster effective communication and collaboration among faculty, staff, and external stakeholders during meetings.

Other Duties

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as health sciences, healthcare administration, or a related discipline.
• At least one (1) year of experience and knowledge of accreditation processes, requirements and best practices in the healthcare or education industry.
• At least two (2) years of organizational and project management skills to assist with coordinating accreditation activities.
• Proficiency in document management and ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation.
• Experience working with diverse colleagues and students in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Proficiency in using productivity tools and software, such as Microsoft Office Suite, to prepare documentation, reports, and presentations.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Experience with electronic document management systems (such as SharePoint) or accreditation management software.
• Ability to show close attention to details to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and documentation requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field, such as healthcare administration, education, or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with one or more accrediting bodies relevant to the Institute's health programs, such as the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT), Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS), Joint Review Committee on Education in Neurodiagnostic Technology (JRC-NDT), Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), National League for Nursing, Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA), and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
• Knowledge of educational standards and best practices in health sciences programs, including curriculum design, assessment, and student learning outcomes.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance in the healthcare or education sector.
