Internship, Universal Creative - Engineering & Safety, Ride/Show (Scenic) (Spring 2024)

Spring 2024 Semester:

Program Dates: Approximately January 2024 – April 2024

JOB SUMMARY: The intern will support the development of show set design, fabrication, and implementation (show sets, props, and static figures) and integration with other show action elements and equipment. The intern will support the show portion of the Ride and Show/Engineering and Safety team, and support development of running mockups, drawings, designs, contracts, and testing documentation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborates with the production team to ensure creative intent and vision of exciting new development is met.
Works with contracted show set and props vendors.
Drafts scopes of work, directives, and change orders with managing responsible individual.
Reviewing 3D models, designs, and construction drawings.
Coordinating meetings with vendors and Universal Creative counterparts.
Assists with creation and documentation of mock-ups.
Provides weekly status reports with impacts.
Works with multiple disciplines to create and update schedules.
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Sophomore or above.
Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.
Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred.
An official transcript may be required upon request.
Preferred majors include: Themed Production Business Management, Theatrical Set Design, Themed Production Design, Interior Design, Scenic/Show Engineering, Architecture.

EXPERIENCE: Prior internship experience related to position is preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Preferable skills for success in role include but not limited to:

Experience with design and construction drawings.
Self-starter with great time management skills.
Experience creating presentations to communicate performed work to various disciplines.
Fabrication/Installation experience preferred, particularly taking a project from design to fabrication to install.
Theme park experience, either operations or design, is preferred.
Must be efficient in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Superior written & verbal communication skills.
Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines.
Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams.
Consistent attendance.

This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.
Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than April 2024.
Universal Orlando does not provide housing. Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
