
Events Internship, Los Angeles Spring 2024
Markham seeks a highly skilled individual to fill our internship position in a fast-paced event consulting firm. The candidate must have strong organizational and logistical skills, impressive interpersonal skills, and a strong work ethic. Markham is a full-service issue advocacy and event firm serving progressive political groups worldwide. This Events Internship position is based in Los Angeles.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As part of the Corporate Events Team, this internship will work directly with members of the Corporate Events staff on various projects for Fortune 500 companies and Silicon Valley tech companies. Duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Assist with creative activations, brainstorming, and post-event reporting
- Help with venue scouting, walkthroughs, staffing, and other support for in-person events
- Assist with virtual events through the management of virtual conferencing and technical execution
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of office supplies and event production materials
- Handling paperwork and logistics related to production (call sheets, collecting slating information, administrative duties as required)
- Manage long-term and short-term research projects
- Suggest improvements for all deliveries as identified
QUALIFICATIONS
Interest in a career in event planning, logistics, or operations
Hospitality, events, or customer service background
Excellent written and verbal skills
Experience in iWork, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel or equivalent are necessary.
Experience with Zoom or other online conferencing tools
Professional phone etiquette and customer service skills
Self-driven and motivated
Well-organized with an eye for detail
Ability to work individually and as part of a team
Ability to work on multiple projects at one time in an efficient manner
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Available to work overtime and weekends
COMPENSATION
This is a paid, part-time internship with the opportunity to pick up more hours outside business hours and on the weekends—$ 17.50 per hour.
