
Internship – Direct Digital Marketing Opportunities (Spring 2024)

Direct Digital Marketing – Affinity Support
JOB SUMMARY: The Direct Digital Marketing (DDM) – Affinity support intern will help facilitate initiatives focused on the email marketing component of the Affinity Programs, Annual Pass program for both coasts – Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. Intern will be responsible for monitoring performance metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement, the storytelling of the performance data, and collaboration with various departments to ensure seamless integration of the channel into broader marketing strategies. Projects will include but are not limited to execution of monthly e-newsletters, and overall project management. Intern will learn the important role Direct Digital Marketing communications play in managing customer relationships, and how these principles work in collaboration with Paid Media, E-Commerce, and Data Science.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides support for the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of Affinity – Annual Pass program for Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood.
- Monitors performance metrics documentation and identify opportunities and patterns for improvement to optimize program effectiveness.
- Assists in email campaigns from start to deployment, and reporting.
- Aids in the ongoing evolution of AP trigger programs for either coast.
- Collaborates with various departments to ensure seamless integration of the channel into broader marketing strategies.
- Conducts research on industry trends, best practices, and competitive loyalty program research and provide insights, and recommendations for incorporating these into Affinity strategies.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Direct Digital Marketing – Destination Support
JOB SUMMARY: The Direct Digital Marketing (DDM) – Destination support intern will help facilitate many initiatives focused on documentation of end-to-end marketing communication journeys, execute data-driven/audience-based tactics to increase guest engagement and conversion, and overall project management. Intern will develop a solid understanding of Direct Digital Marketing fundamentals and strategies; including guest experience, contact & segment strategies, offer positioning, key performance metrics and analysis. Learn the important role Direct Digital Marketing communications play in managing customer relationships, and how these principles work in collaboration with Paid Media, E-Commerce, and Data Science.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the Direct Digital Marketing Destination support team with development, execution, and implementation of marketing messages within Extras Newsletters.
- Assists leadership to maintain project timelines.
- Assists with pre/post-campaign analytics and metrics, program testing, campaign execution support, and process documentation.
- Collaborates with internal partners and shareholders on campaigns.
- Demonstrates a passion for marketing and keen attention to detail.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Direct Digital Marketing – Phase Support
JOB SUMMARY: The Direct Digital Marketing (DDM) – Phase support intern will provide support for the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of automated/trigger programs, virtual assistant, and mobile messaging marketing channel. Intern will be responsible for monitoring performance metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement, and collaborating with various departments to ensure seamless integrations of the channels into broader marketing strategies. Intern will develop a deep understanding of how to lead Marketing Technology efforts in a corporate environment while collaborating across several teams.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides support for the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of automated/trigger program, virtual assistant, and mobile messaging marketing channel.
- Monitors performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement to optimize channel effectiveness.
- Assists in creating data reports to track the performance of automated/trigger program, virtual assistant, and mobile messaging marketing channel.
- Collaborates with various departments to ensure seamless integration of the channel into broader marketing strategies.
- Conducts research on industry trends, best practices, and competitive loyalty program research and provide insights, and recommendations for incorporating these into Universal’s wholistic strategy.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Junior or above.
- Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.
- Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred.
- An official transcript may be required upon request.
- Preferred majors include: Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Business Management, Hospitality, Public Relations.
EXPERIENCE: Prior internship experience related to position is preferred.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Preferable skills for success in role include but not limited to:
- Experience with direct digital marketing (lifecycle, mobile messaged, direct/1:1 marketing, digital marketing) with an understanding of integrating communication strategies preferred.
- Must be efficient in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Superior written & verbal communication skills.
- Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines.
- Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams.
- Consistent attendance.

- This internship will be a hybrid experience, based in our Orlando offices.
- Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than April 2024.
