Here is your opportunity to work within our Mapping and GIS Section to create maps in ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro, enter data into geodatabases, and work with LiDAR datasets. The District offers the year-round Student Internship Program to provide students with real work experience and specific hands-on knowledge related to the chosen course of study.
For helping to maintain our valuable water resources as a student, we offer:

Compensation: $14.74 hourly
- Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) of orthoimagery
- Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data
- Editing of impervious surface data derived from LiDAR
- Editing of historical permit data
- Assisting with map and data requests from the public
- Review of documentation such as metadata, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Intense Observation Periods (IOPs), etc.
- Other GIS and survey related activities, as required
Most work is conducted in a standard office environment. Work activity is primarily sedentary with ability to perform continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding) with one or both hands. Required Credentials for GIS Student Intern
- Be at least part-time and currently enrolled in High school, an accredited college, university, or other recognized educational or vocational program
- Have at least two (2) years remaining before graduation
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students or minimum GPA of 3.0 for graduate students
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Credentials for GIS Student Intern
- Experience with creating maps in ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro and entering data into geodatabases
- Experience with editing workflows and using extensions in ArcGIS Desktop
- Experience with ArcGIS Desktop software and Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word and Excel)
- Familiarity with LiDAR and orthoimagery data
- Preferred Degrees: Geospatial Sciences or Geography
- Preferred Degree Level: Undergraduate

This position is typically scheduled to work no more than 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, out of the Brooksville, FL office. This position requires work to be conducted inside of the office for enhanced learning opportunities.
