Princeton in Asia Fellowship
About Princeton in Asia
Founded in 1898, Princeton in Asia (PiA) is an independent non-profit organization affiliated with and located on-campus at Princeton University. We place recent college graduates in immersive work fellowships at host organizations across Asia, where they contribute meaningful work, learn new perspectives, and cultivate long-lasting friendships. PiA fellowships are one- or two-year commitments that place an equal emphasis on living, learning, and working in one's host community.

Eligibility
There is no cost to submit an application for a PiA fellowship. Graduates of any college or university are eligible to apply. While our applicants are generally college seniors or recent college graduates, there is no age limit for applying to PiA.
The primary prerequisite for a PiA fellowship is a bachelor’s degree. We do accept candidates with master’s degrees, but not those with terminal or professional degrees (e.g., Ph.D, medical, law, etc.).
PiA does not restrict eligibility based on US citizenship or residency status. However, all candidates must present a compelling rationale for how they will contribute to PiA’s mission of United States-Asia exchange. Please note that host countries’ visa restrictions may limit our ability to place citizens of certain nationalities.
Program Benefits
PiA Fellows are employees of their host organization, not of PiA. Each host organization pays a local living stipend meant to cover general living expenses. They also offer logistical support so Fellows can secure their visa.
PiA is committed to offering fellowships to as diverse and talented an applicant pool as possible. We reimburse all Fellows for the costs of obtaining their visa and work permits, including in-person travel to their local consulate or embassy. We offer travel grants by application to ensure that finances are not a barrier to traveling to one’s host country.
