About the Position:
Will consider Transportation Planner.
Under the general direction of the Equity, Engagement, and Health (EEH) Branch Chief, a Senior Transportation Planner, the incumbent works with considerable independence, frequently in a lead capacity, on a range of EEH-related transportation planning projects in the Office of Transportation Equity and Community Engagement (OTECE), Division of Transportation Planning (DOTP). Incumbent works as a subject matter expert, helping to ensure that all the Department's transportation planning functions incorporate and embody equity, engagement, and health principles and practices as may be appropriate to each unit's functions, including leading or assisting with projects to implement and update the EEH Action Plan. Incumbent serves in a lead role in managing the DOTP Health program, embedding public health in transportation planning, participating in inter-agency Health in All Policies (HiAP) meetings and task forces, and implementing emerging practices in health in transportation. Other duties of this position may include: assisting or leading the development of equity, engagement, and health guidance, tools, and training; supporting the Caltrans Public Engagement System (CPES) program manager; supporting the DOTP Public Engagement Program Manager; supporting the DOTP Reconnecting Communities Program Manager; technical writing and graphic design; procurement/solicitation and contract document preparation; lead roles on legislative bill analyses; workshop and meeting facilitation; preparation of reports, guides, training materials, and other related documents; topical research and analysis; consultation and coordination with the districts and other divisions, and other duties as assigned.
