Senior Financial Analyst
As the Finance and Accounting Analyst you will work within the School of Medicine (SoM) Dean's office Finance team that supports the Department Administrators and Finance support personnel across OHSU School of Medicine. Along with managing the day-to-day operations within the School of Medicine Dean's office. Your primary purpose is to contribute expert financial and analytical knowledge. A key component of this position is the production of high-quality data and reports on an ad hoc and routine basis. You will serve as an advanced finance resource for SoM Finance leadership and staff. You are also responsible for collaboration with Central Financial Services, Hospital Financial Services, OHSU Foundation, and the Office of Proposal and Award Managment (OPAM) to ensure complete adherence with University policies and procedures of a financial nature.
Function/Duties of Position
- Independent work to design and develop complex financial reports, graphs, and presentations to provide current, essential, and relevant information for decision-making. Conducts financial and cost/benefit analyses of current and anticipated programs and initiatives and prepares financial analyses and models to support the development of this work.
- Responsible for the budget development and modeling for the School of Medicine budgets. This includes creating projections, performing variance analysis, and other project-related tasks. This position will work with the departments within the School of Medicine to capture relevant information to inform both the budget and projections.
- Work with School of Medicine Senior Finance leadership to design complex financial models related to strategic planning, departmental reviews, and business plan development and analysis.
- Create complex ad hoc financial analyses and reports for School of Medicine Leadership and external sources. Communicate results of analysis and make recommendations. This includes running complex ad hoc data queries to obtain necessary information to perform work.

Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Finance or Accounting, or a related field from an accredited college or university. If from a related field, candidate must have 36 hours of accounting courses from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
- All candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of professional financial analysis experience.
- Prior Academic Health Center or relevant financial specific experience performing analysis related to operational improvements and business cases.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.
Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Highly proficient with use of PC including database and spreadsheet applications.
Intermediate spreadsheet skills, including complex functions, formulas, and formatting. - Experience with relational databases. Understanding of financial reporting concepts such as cost accounting and net present value analysis.
- Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult with internal and external customers regarding matters/issues which may be sensitive in nature.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or other relevant field of graduate study.
Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience in Oracle, report writing applications such as COGNOS BI, Smartsheet and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of federal requirements of NIH and other funding agency grants.
Additional Details
Will be required to go into the office based on business needs, approx. 1-2x a week.
Starting Pay Range: $78,336 - $98,481 annually (Commensurate with qualifications, experience and internal equity)
