Wish Coordinator
Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida has a sole mission: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Started in 1983 by the Plantation Junior Woman's Club, the Southern Florida chapter has grown from granting a wish every 180 days to granting a wish every 14 hours. In its 40-year history, the organization has granted more than 13,000 wishes. POSITION SUMMARY
This entry-level position is responsible for the coordination of wishes within the Performance Standards and guidelines established by Make-A-Wish Southern Florida and Make-A-Wish America. The wish coordinator is responsible for fulfilling the Make-A-Wish mission to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
ATTRIBUTES DESIRED
- Bi-lingual, Spanish/English desired, but not required
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision is essential
- Self-motivated, creative problem-solver
- Detail oriented and accurate
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills a must
- Ability to interact with diverse groups and work successfully in a collaborative, team-oriented organization
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of wishes and manage caseload of routine and complex wishes to ensure the wish proceeds in a timely manner. Specific aspects include, but are not limited to, establishing a budget for each wish and organizing the following types of logistics: transportation; accommodations, activities and services; medical equipment; wish forms and itineraries; and communicating with chapter assisting with the wish.
- Develop strong relationships with vendors to secure in-kind donations for wishes
- Keep abreast of all Make-A-Wish America and local policies, procedures, Performance Standards, guidelines, and resources as they relate to the wish-granting program and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve the wish-granting process
- Participate in the on-call rotation within Wish department
- Assist other departments as needed and assist office with phone back-up, volunteer communications/training, and special events
QUALIFICATIONS
- Read, write, speak English (Spanish bi-lingual desired but not essential)
- Bachelor of Arts or Science degree desired, not required
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Salesforce experience helpful
