Brand Marketing Intern- Craft Spirits

This position is for the Summer Internship in Brand Marketing for the Wine & Spirits division located in San Francisco, CA. The position will be offered for 12 weeks during the summer months (May-August) and will report into a Brand Manager for ongoing support. The summer program will provide the Intern with exposure to a broad range of brand management responsibilities including portfolio and brand strategy, performance and financial analysis, cross-functional team project work and innovation/creative advertising strategy and development. The Brand Marketing Intern will be responsible for the following: 

Develop and present a capstone project that addresses a critical need in the business and/or white space opportunity.

The summer program will conclude with a formal presentation to the Marketing Leadership Team with an actionable recommendation for the business.

The capstone project will be assigned during the first week of the internship and require the Intern to lead business analysis and manage the project with the support and input from key cross-functional teams.

In partnership with the Brand Manager, gain exposure to building premium consumer equity through the design and execution of consumer and trade strategies including pricing, packaging, promotion, public relations, digital advertising, consumer event activations, and utilizing market research where appropriate to inform strategies.

Experience a brand management role within the wine & spirits industry, which will entail a variety of summer programming activities: visits to production facilities and winery tasting rooms, joining local sales team for on and off premise account visits, ‘lunch & learns’ and happy hours.

 

Responsibilities

Responsible for development of a strategic capstone project and delivery of a comprehensive presentation and leave-behind at the conclusion of the Summer program

Perform on-going business and competitive analyses and provide findings and recommendations for corrective action where appropriate to Brand Manager and team

Analyze and interpret P&Ls at the brand and product line levels when necessary

Visit key SF accounts in support of sales and distributor blitzes, new product launches, surveys, etc. and report brand and competitive findings as well as any market driven recommendations to Brand Manager and team

Successfully communicate and work with key internal groups across the organization especially when leading and managing capstone project; Trade Marketing, Lifestyle & Events, Public Relations, Field Marketing, Finance, Operations and Winemaking

Communicate on a regular basis with Brand Manager and Brand VP, ensuring projects are on track, gaining support and guidance

 

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age

Proven desire and ability to think creatively, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent communications skills; very articulate, strong public speaking and writing skills, strong interpersonal skills, strong cross functional skills, ability to work well within a team

Excellent organizational and project management skills, ability to prioritize, and solid financial acumen

Strong PC skills (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);

Successful candidate will be a very motivated self-starter

 

Preferred Qualifications

MBA Candidate – Spring 2024 target graduation

Syndicated database experience (IRI or Nielsen), custom database experience

1-2 years of brand marketing experience

Background in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) or related industry

The salary range for this role is:

$19.00- $29.50 an hour

 

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
