The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is seeking bright, innovative, results-driven recent graduates under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA is a highly competitive authority appointing recent college graduates into entry-level personnel for subsequent advancement to the journey-level in professional and administrative career fields.

As an IT Specialist (Security), you will perform the following duties:

  • Providing support with security controls implementation of cloud-based systems, security assessments/reports, and weaknesses remediation. Appling knowledge of security operations, compliance, and methods for the protection of IT systems in the cloud, including the development, application, analysis, and testing of security methods and systems preventing and/or limiting the loss of IT resources due to unauthorized access, destruction, disclosure, tampering, or alteration. Assisting in the IT security plan development and implementing policy, processes, and controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Aiding in the integration of systems into the continuous monitoring program, and in the IT Systems realignment of FISMA systems components, common controls management, system boundaries and applications within. Assists in Common Controls Assessment for the Fisheries Enterprise, contributing to a process for annual reviews of risk mitigations, risk acceptance memos, and waivers for all Fisheries systems.

NOTE: This is a developmental position. The position performs work under general supervision in a developmental capacity aimed at preparing the incumbent to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties outlined in the target position description IT Specialist (Security), ZP-2210-3.
