DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is URGENTLY seeking an energetic Critical Materials Engineer to research and analyze strengths, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities within the global defense industrial base, recommend relevant prototyping efforts, craft relevant acquisition documents, evaluate proposed efforts, monitor program execution, conduct outreach efforts, and conduct site visits. The employee will support the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Base Policy (IBP) in Alexandrea, VA and/or remotely. This position is contingent upon the candidate’s willingness to apply for, obtain, and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance.
This position will support the Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) program in the following areas:
• Critical and strategic materials/minerals
• Batteries and power storage
• Digital transformation / Industry 4.0
• Emerging technologies
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in relevant discipline
• 2-4 years of experience
• DoD SECRET security clearance (current interim secret clearance sufficient)
• Demonstrated DoD/military experience
• Strong oral and written communications capabilities
Desired Qualifications:
• Master’s degree
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of systems engineering concepts and methods
• DoD TOP SECRET clearance or higher
