USDA - OCE Student Trainee: Economics-Virtual(HNIP)
The Office of the Chief Economist (OCE) is the focal point for economic and policy-related research and analysis for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. OCE aims to inform public and private decision makers by providing unbiased information and data-driven analyses of current and emerging issues impacting agriculture.
The OCE is looking for a graduate intern for the Spring 2024 session.
Duties include:
Collect economic or other information for incorporation into detailed economic research projects;
• Analyze and interpret economic statistics;
• Compile and place in an orderly arrangement, specified data from a variety of sources;
• Works with higher graded specialists in the preparation of publications/related material including drafting reports of limited scope and complexity for publication or preparation of reports on segments of major study for inclusion in overall reports or studies.
• Composes correspondence and compiles statistical and other data for the purpose of answering requests for information.
• Assist senior economist in conducting of economic research that may include econometric or other advanced forms of statistical analysis
The ideal candidate will have experience with:
- Statistical and database software (Excel, R, Python, or Stata or other statistical software)
- R Python, SQL or other equivalent programming languages
- Tableau or other data visualizations software.
