Data Analytics MAP Intern (PartTime-19)

Performs support duties in an agency in order to gain knowledge, skills and professional experience. Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures. Work is reviewed through observation of performance, frequent conferences and reports.
Primary Responsibilities
New exciting internship position is at the intersection of economics, transportation, and public policy. Help us tell the story of the economic benefits that the new Mobility Advancement Program (MAP) initiative provides in Broward County. Take advantage of this opportunity to develop data collection and analytical processes, form relationships with leading industry organizations, municipalities, and agencies within Broward County to acquire project-specific data analysis skills, conduct independent research, and become an integral part of an innovative data analysis team.
The successful Intern will be professional, motivated and energetic. The intern will be responsible for managing a large volume of data involving collection and data management that require considerable knowledge of administrative and clerical duties such as gathering and organizing data to provide information for MAP related special projects or reports. Intern will also assist in preparing written reports, researching trends, and evaluating economic development issues in support of the MAP team.
This role will offer exposure to economic impact modeling software using an in-place standardized methodology. You will have the support of experienced senior staff that will train you to develop economic impact simulations or expand your existing skill set.
The new Data Analytics MAP Intern will perform the following analytical tasks:
* Assist in developing MAP data collection processes.
* Collect data from various sources and contacts to perform the necessary various analysis.
* Coordinate with Broward County agencies and municipalities to obtain project specific MAP data.
* Determine appropriate industry classifications, annual spend, and locational designation of MAP projects.
* Perform data analytics for MAP projects to provide reports concerning the economic impact.
* Determine how the MAP projects are increasing employment opportunities, changes in area income levels, and direct and indirect social impacts; analyze employment statistics, income facts, and supply and demand of labor, and tax revenues.
* Perform economic impact analysis that will continue throughout the MAP projects and will help to increase community support for these projects.
* Share data and potentially present findings with our Economic Development Team as well as Outreach team to be used to tell the short and long stories of the economic impact of Small Business participation in MAP beyond.
* Creating and maintaining a directory of industry specific organizations and interest groups.
* Coordinate with MAP staff to provide data for presentations for the MAP Oversight Board, municipal partners and local interest groups.
* Researching and identifying key industry leaders locally and state-wide for MAP related services.
* Prepare scorecards, online-dashboards, Storyboards and reports to share research and analysis findings.
* Create GIS mappings or data sets to demonstrate spatial impacts.
* Execute automated data reporting processes using PowerBI, Tableua, or similar analytical software.
* Advanced use of excel, access and other data management tools as skills permit.
* Prepare special projects in ad-hoc data analysis if requested by County Commissioners, County Administration or other executives.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Currently enrolled in, or graduated from, a degree-seeking program from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to area of assignment.
OR
Able to meet the qualifications of a County Commission and Human Resources approved internship or apprenticeship program.

- IMPLAN Model and/or REMI knowledge/experience preferred
- Microsoft Power BI knowledge/experience preferred
- GIS experience preferred

Physical Demands
