Storekeeper II

Nature of Work

The purpose of this job is to research products, request quotes, and generate purchase orders with appropriate vendors. Tracks inventory usage; reviews, maintains and corrects paperwork related to inventory and purchases; approves invoices for payment; and updates computer systems.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 
 

  • Maintains computerized inventory control system by posting new receipts, issues and returns on a daily basis and entering new inventory and special order items
  • Maintains inventory by performing routine physical inventory and noting stock items whose number is near the reorder level
  • Receives incoming merchandise, determines adequacy of delivery through item count and quality check, and enters new items into the inventory system
  • Participates in the annual year-end physical inventory by printing work sheet; performing item counts of material held in storeroom, researching discrepancies noted between item count and computerized inventory system, and entering item count into the computer
  • Prints fiscal year-end totals and inventory; prints and distributes report to interested parties
  • Assists in determining if new items are to be added to inventory or are to be pass through items
  • Determines adequacy of stocking quantities and adjusts level as necessary by calculating approximate cost to determine appropriate purchasing procedure, developing specifications and necessary information upon which a realistic bid can be entered, awarding and confirming bids after approval from purchasing Department
  • Prices jobs for department of assignment by researching sources for hard to find items and meeting with vendors and sales personnel

Minimum Training and Experience

Required Education and Experience 
 

  • High school diploma (or GED equivalent) supplemented by college courses in business administration and record keeping

--AND--
 

  • At least two (2) years of experience working in a store keeping or warehouse facility

--OR--

  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
