Intern Interior Designer
Merrick & Company is seeking a college senior or graduate school student for a paid summer student internship for Summer 2024 for our San Antonio, TX office. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2024.
We will be accepting resumes for this opportunity from approximately September – November 2023. Resumes will be reviewed as they are received, and interviews will take place in January/February 2024. Offers will be extended in March 2024. Timeframe subject to change.
Job Description
The summer internship will provide the Interior Design student an opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of interior design. The intern will be exposed to all aspects of the project design and have the chance to work on unique and interesting projects.
This individual will work in a multi-discipline design studio working under the supervision of the Project Architect or Interior Designer. The position requires the ability to receive specific and detailed instructions regarding architectural and interior design tasks. Looking for an individual who takes the initiative to either work out or research a work effort and understands his/her capabilities and when to seek help from mentors. The position requires the collaboration with other drafters/designers, the ability to follow directions and schedules, work independently, possess good written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to problem solve. Must be team oriented, self-starting and focused on producing good design in a most efficient manner and meets expectations for attendance and punctuality.
Required Experience
- Basic knowledge of Revit is required.
- Basic skills in AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Lumion, Formit and 3D MAX desirable.
- Knowledge in Adobe Photoshop and graphic experience is a plus.
- Must be a rising senior currently enrolled in an Interior Design or Interior Architecture degree from a CIDA accredited program. Recent graduates will not be considered.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
- Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship
- Local candidates are strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
- Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted.
- May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
