Description- Manufacturing Engineer, Rings
- This position will own the front of the line for our segment production, which includes bending, flash welding, and slag removal equipment.
- Today our T700 parts only use 3 out of 4 possible segments due to the flash weld. Previous investigations have shown a lack of standards around flash welding requirements for sector outer bands.
- Thus the individual taking this roll will need to work with GE material and design resources to develop a path to qualify the weld.
- As this area provides the input material to the turning processes there is additional opportunity to determine key product characteristics that are critical to turned ring quality.
Quantifiable Job Outcomes
- Increase T700 Segment output per ring by 25%, by allowing the use of the flash welded area of the ring.
Additional Learning Opportunities
- Preliminary Review
- QF - 201 Quality Basics
