Packaging Development Co-Op

Description

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative 2024 Spring Co-Op candidate to join our Animal Health Formulation Development department located at our North Brunswick, NJ facility. As a Co-Op, you will help design and execute plastic packaging material characterization and compatibility experiments to accelerate research and development projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to formulation development projects in needs of packaging materials recommendation.  
  • Design & conduct polymeric packaging material characterization and packaging compatibility study.
  • Responsible for data evaluation, data analysis and conclude next steps to solving problems.
  • Collaborate with formulation scientist on new formulation and primary packaging development.

Requirements

  • Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing.
  • Student must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship.
  • Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred.
  • Major or minor in related field of internship.
  • Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university.
  • Graduate and advanced degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university.

Eligibility Requirements:  

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

  • BS, MS or PhD in polymer science, packaging science, material science or related program.
  • Previous plastic packaging or plastic industry experience is preferred.
  • Hands on experience in polymeric material characterization including DMA, Rheology, FTIR, DSC, Instron and microscopy.
  • Good technical skills and judgement with training in laboratory safety and procedures.
  • Proficient in Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Good communication skills in both written and verbal.
