Consumer Safety Technician

Summary

Positions are located in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA), Office of Human and Animal Food Operations (OHAFO). ORA is responsible for inspecting regulated products and manufacturers, analyzing samples of regulated products and reviewing products imported into the United States. OHAFO provides advice and counsel regarding field operations, emergency response activities and international affairs for human and animal food products.

Duties

• Conducts studies of existing procedures and makes recommendations or independently revises and develops alternative procedures.
• Assembles primary source material and other required information from various agency files and literature to identify issues that are the subject of investigations.
• Performs complex office automation duties requiring different approaches and methods from assignment to assignment.
• Using formal procedures, serves as the organization's focal point for providing office management services for an organization with extensive responsibility for coordination work outside of the organization.
