Habitat Americorps Volunteer Programs Coordinator of Construction - Norristown, PA

AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.

What will you do?

The volunteer services coordinator helps recruit, train, schedule and recognize volunteers while growing the volunteer base and advancing individual and group partnerships. Market within the community to recruit new volunteers. Develop new events and opportunities for volunteers to engage with the mission of Habitat for Humanity.
 

  • Typically serve Tuesday – Saturday to support work on the build site.
  • Recruit and schedule volunteers for construction, office, ReStore, deconstruction, family services and special events opportunities.
  • Assist with all aspects of hands-on volunteering tasks, including but not limited to, painting, organizing, staging, framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, roofing, finish carpentry and landscaping.
  • Assist with all aspects of volunteer management including orientations, maintenance of database, volunteer tracking and follow-up.
  • Work with construction staff to ensure successful volunteer build days – signing volunteers in, providing orientation and safety briefings, helping put away tools with volunteers at the end of the day and ordering necessary volunteer supplies.
  • Develop and/or revise volunteer recruitment, management and recognition tools.


This position will focus on volunteer services; brand management; disaster risk, reduction, and response; home construction; home repair; homeowner services; neighborhood revitalization; research, monitoring, and evaluation; and virtual/digital systems and platforms aspects of Habitat affiliate operations.

  • Activities and attractions: We are close to many great trails, state parks and creeks as well as historical sites like the constitution center, old city in Philadelphia, and Valley Forge Battlefield Museum. We are also close to the King of Prussia mall, Flight 93 911 memorial, Legoland Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Zoo, the Franklin Institute, the Academy of National Science, and Eastern State Penitentiary.
  • Unique projects: We are working on developing new volunteer initiatives and activities, we are working on building homes with ‘Aging in place’ and accessibility in mind, we are looking into condo-style living situations, we are developing databases of partners hosting a ReStore truck event day for nearby residents to donate, with tabling events hosted by the volunteer program.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident at least 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED.

Pursuant to current Habitat for Humanity policy, this position requires full vaccination against COVID-19, except to the extent such requirement is prohibited by applicable law.
