Part-time Research Analyst (Blockchain, Data Science, Finance & US Public Policy)

OVERVIEW

This is a part-time, remote work opportunity.

You determine your hours. A weekly or monthly stipend will be paid based on your availability and projects you choose to work on.

It's ideal for Graduate students and upperclassmen who have extra free time and enjoy doing research and analysis as well as connecting with professionals in the tech sector!

We'll provide you with clearly defined deliverables, milestones, and timelines so that this opportunity does not interfere with your academic schedule.

  • Executive presence and professionalism is a must as this is a client-facing role.
  • The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal and time management skills with a meticulous eye for detail!
  • A demonstrated interest in the technology, finance, and cyber security sectors is a plus.

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS

This is a generalist role.  It requires a broad array of skills such as:

  • Research & Analysis: Ability to research and synthesize information from online sources.  A background in data science and statistics would also be useful
  • Technical Writing:  Ability to understand and summarize complex topics in a manner non-technical people can grasp
  • Presentation & Public Speaking: Ability speak clearly and communicate complex topics professionally in way that technical and non-technical audiences may understand
  • Interpersonal & People Skills:  Ability provide constructive feedback and coaching to others.  Ability to make recommendations on our current workflow and needed process improvements
  • Leadership:  Ability to see the big picture and focus not only on results, but also on the processes used to reach those results  
  • Time Management: The ability to meet deadlines and manage stakeholder expectations
     

BONUS SKILLS

Advanced level (3+ years)  of Software Engineering, Web Development, or Blockchain Development  experience using any of the below:

      Blockchain: Solidity, Hardhat, Foundry

     Scripting and Frontend: JavaScript (ES6+), React, Next.js, TypeScript, Bootstrap, Tailwind

     PHP Stacks: Object Oriented PHP and WordPress

     Server-Side & Databases: Bash Scripting, NGINX Sys Admin, MySQL, SQL, Mongo, Node.js, Express.js

      Low-level Languages: C++,  C#, Java (core)


ANTICIPATED RESPONSIBILITIES

Each hire may choose one or more of the following optional responsibilities. Necessary training and coaching is provided:

1. Staying abreast of industry news pertaining to stable coins, Central Bank Digital Currencies, and Information Security best practices:

  • Write analysis memos, blog posts and/or executive summaries on notable industry findings and on-goings
  • Communicate findings with stakeholders via video conference calls (maximum length of each call is 30 minutes)

2. Recording demo videos of our Software Products

3. Screening resumes and assisting with interviewing Software Engineering job candidates.  

  • We will provide you with training resources on how to conduct tech interviews
  • We have full and part-time openings for Java Devs, CUDA/C++ Engineers, Next.js/React Devs, and Salesforce Admin/Devs

4.  Assisting with creating and/or giving Google Slide (or PowerPoint) presentations when needed

5. Communicating with our stakeholders and potential clients via email, Zoom, and/or Google Meet.   

  • NB 1: One-on-one Training and coaching is provided if needed

   - Attend, coordinate and lead our stakeholder and client outreach video conference calls

   - Each conference call lasts an average of 30 minutes

   - There will be 1 to 2 attendees on each call

   - Craft reminder and follow-up emails to conference call attendees.  We can provide you with templates if needed

6. Making sure Engineering staff are meeting deadlines and take required training and certifications
 

CANDIDATE SCREENING CRTIERIA

To objectively  assess your research and public speaking skills, we are asking interested candidates to participate in the following:

PHASE 1. Applicants are invited to a 30 minute information session to ask questions as well as to meet our hiring manager

PHASE 2: Write a 1-page Executive Summary on a complex topic of our choice.   

- You are expected to use online resources to research and learn about the topic.  Resources you use should be cited as footnotes on your executive summary

PHASE 3: Present your PHASE 1 findings in a live, 10 to 15-minute presentation to our team. You are encouraged to use presentation aids such as Google Slides or PowerPoint
