Disney Signature Experiences Public Relations Internship, Spring 2024

This position is part of the Public Relations team, which develops and executes consumer media communications strategies that drive traditional and social media coverage to increase awareness for Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, National Geographic Expeditions, Disney Vacation Club, Aulani – a Disney Resort & Spa, Storyliving by Disney, and Golden Oak.

 

A Day in the Life…

In this role, you will support a variety of exciting projects including announcing new itineraries for Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions; launching new resorts for Disney Vacation Club; and exploring new horizons with Storyliving by Disney.

Support domestic and international PR efforts that target a variety of media outlets including print, online and broadcast. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responding to media inquiries and assisting with media relationship management
  • Maintaining media contact and project databases
  • Creating and maintaining coverage and project reports
  • Maintaining news media website and press materials archive
  • Managing news photography library
  • Developing press event materials (i.e. media invitations, itineraries and collateral)
  • Developing story angles and media pitches
  • Drafting various types of editorial content including news releases, fact sheets and other media materials
  • Creating written and visual content for the Disney Parks Blog
  • Producing photos for editorial and social use and develop news-style photo captions
  • Ideating and producing video content for broadcast and online channels
  • Assisting with planning and executing media FAMs and press events
  • Coordinating media visits
  • Overseeing development of media amenities and department assets
  • Providing general administrative support (i.e. correspondence and phone coverage)
  • Assisting with special projects as needed

What we are looking for… 

(Basic Qualifications)

  • Proficiency with Associated Press writing style
  • Previous roles in Journalism, Public Relations, Media Relations or similar experience in writing/reporting and project management
  • Proven research skills and an understanding of how the news media works
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and succinctly communicate ideas, both verbally and visually
  • Proven self-starter with demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently
  • Strong partnering and relationship skills to excel within a team environment
  • Ability to work in an environment that promotes and celebrates diversity and inclusion
  • Motivated, positive attitude and a passion for communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite products

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese
  • Video production experience
  • Visual storyteller with an understanding of graphic design
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in a Mac environment
  • Previous experience as a Disney Cast Member

Required Education

  • Currently enrolled as a junior or higher, or graduated within six months of application submission, in an accredited college/university earning a degree in Journalism, Media Relations, Public Relations, Mass Communication or related field
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

Additional Information:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program. 
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must be compliant with The Disney Look appearance guidelines.
  • Must provide full work availability
  • All candidates must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session
  • This internship is a hybrid position - Must be able to provide a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated workspace
  • Program length - The approximate dates of this internship are January 2024 through June 2024
  • Work details - Must be able to work FULL TIME hours (approximately 40 per week) for the duration of the internship
  • Transportation- Must have reliable transportation to/from work
  • Current Active Disney Cast Members must meet Disney Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World Cast Members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland Cast Members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months
