Career Advising & Professional Development (CAPD) seeks a student to work with our Pay Equity Working Group to raise awareness of pay inequity.
Researcher: Pay Equity
Work with MIT alums and lawyers from across the country to build out a state-by-state know-your-rights resource to promote pay equity and reduce structures of discrimination and bias. MIT's Career Advising and Professional Development has created a rich set of resources for students to evaluate job offers across different states. The current resource (https://capd.mit.edu/resources/review-your-job-offer-state-by-state-guides/) covers two dozen states, including most metropolitan areas in the United States. This research will focus on completing the rest of the 50 states, as well as looking into other auxiliary resources that may be helpful. You'll work closely with MIT alums Kristin Smith '04 of the MIT Equal Pay Working Group and Paul Cha '96 of Sheridan Ross in Colorado. The work is remote; once a month, you will meet with the lawyers onsite to review work.
Tasks will involve interacting with attorney volunteers across many states; gathering relevant information across multiple states, and cohesively pulling together the information in an approachable, understandable format.
Undergraduate and graduate students interested in the topic of pay equity or who may be considering legal careers may appreciate this opportunity to work with lawyers. All students are encouraged to apply.
