Graduate Assistant, Technical Services - Centennial Student Union

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION:  

• Assist in providing technical support for the Centennial Student Union schedule of events, meetings, and conferences; which may include nights and weekends.
• Assist in maintaining equipment functionality and inventories.
• Assist in the training and development of student employees.
• Maintain and update a student employee handbook and training program.
• Serve as a communication conduit between functional areas within the Centennial Student Union fostering quality customer service.
• Other administrative and leadership responsibilities as assigned.
 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Eligible for admission to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program.  Appointments are contingent upon acceptance into a graduate program by assistantship start date. 
  • Enrollment in a minimum of six (6) credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.
  • Previous experience working with audio, video, computer graphics, multimedia systems, stage lighting, live event management, musical, and/or theatrical staging.
    Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
  • Strong preference given to students enrolling in the Theatre/ Music, Information Technology, or Student Affairs programs.
  • Exceptional decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member. 
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in writing skillfully, speaking notably, and listening attentively.
  • Experience in developing training programs.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Present strong leadership and management skills.
  • Previous experience working closely with students, faculty, and student affairs professionals in the higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.


SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for tuition waiver.

RELATED INFORMATION: 

Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
