Student Admissions Ambassador - SHHS

Overview: The School of Health & Human Sciences Admissions Ambassadors program offers a unique opportunity for eligible undergraduate students in SHHS to showcase their experiences and insights to prospective students during recruitment events.

Qualities We Seek: We are looking for passionate individuals who are enthusiastic about sharing their SHHS journey with a diverse range of audiences. Our ambassadors are expected to commit to representing the school for an entire academic year.

Role and Responsibilities: As an Admissions Ambassador, you will play a pivotal role in engaging with college-bound students interested in SHHS programs. Your duties will include:

  • Engagement: Connect with prospective students and alumni at various events throughout the academic year.
  • Personal Interaction: Reach out to prospects/applicants for one-on-one meetings, either in person, over the phone, or via Zoom, to provide insights into student life at IUPUI and the School of Health & Human Sciences.
  • Participation: Attend ambassador meetings and training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Student Panels: Serve on student panels in classrooms and meetings to share your unique perspective.
  • Guidance: Provide encouragement and resources to pre-SHHS students and assist in recruitment events.
  • Support: Offer assistance to the Office of Student Success as needed.

Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • GPA: Maintain a minimum IU cumulative GPA of 2.5 (3.0 preferred).
  • Major: Be a current student majoring in one of the following fields: Exercise Science; Fitness Management and Personal Training; Health Sciences, Physical Education Teacher Education; Tourism, Convention, and Event Management; or Sport Management.
  • Conduct Record: Have a clean conduct record with the university and abide by the IUPUI Student Code of Conduct.
  • Experience: Be a fully admitted student to the school and have completed at least one full semester at IUPUI by the fall semester following acceptance into the program.
  • Passion: Be genuinely eager to share your IUPUI and SHHS story.

Learning Objectives: By becoming an Admissions Ambassador, you will gain valuable skills, including:

Effective Communication: Improve your communication skills by building relationships with peers, fellow students, and prospective students. Enhance your active listening abilities through interactions and assistance with other students during their academic journey.

Analytical Thinking: Develop analytical skills by evaluating current procedures and assessing their effectiveness using data and research.

This position is open to work study and non work study students. Students will have the opportunity to work up to 20 hours per week.
