General Purpose/Agency Overview
New Beginnings’ mission is to increase the educational success of students by meeting the needs of children and their families through the partnerships of educational institutions, community service agencies and the business community. The Lego Designer will assist in the production of Lego structures for the children and the childcare facility. The educational environment provides childcare, pre-school, kindergarten, after-school care and summer programming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Create Lego structures for Lego City and teach students the design aspects of the structures
2. Plan, develop, and present Lego displays for the daycare/after-school program and for presentations to partner organizations
3. Maintain the development and design of the Lego structures on the website for the childcare/after-school program
4. Teach children about the design and creation of the Lego structures using STEM guidelines
Required Qualifications
● Must qualify for the Federal Work Study Program
● Excellent project management and organizational skills are essential
● Art major and/or experience in the field of art design and production
● Strong communication skills with ability to work with a team
● Must be accurate and detail oriented in the development and creation of art projects and designs
● Responsible for presenting design ideas to staff and administration
● Attention to details regarding paperwork and the completion of projects
● Creativity and enthusiasm when covering lesson plans and teaching children about art and design
● Excellent people skills, enthusiasm for helping children, respectful attitude
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience working with school age children (preferred, not required)
● Experience working with children age 3-5 (preferred, not required)
● Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
