PAID College Intern (Human Resources) - ODOT District 5

To be eligible, you must be in good academic standing while pursuing a degree in Human Resources, also provide proof of Enrollment Documentation showing a minimum GPA of 2.00.

Position Description:

This temporary position involves various duties that can either supplement the student's major field of study and/or provide experience that is useful in addition to the student's education.

  • Assists Human Resources staff with various duties (e.g., enter and research data, contacts candidates and schedules interviews, assists with job or career fairs and maintains or updates recruitment materials; prepares and maintains files, scans confidential documents)
  • Operates personal computer with various software programs and systems (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Ohio Administrative Knowledge System (OAKS), Ohio Hiring Management System (OHMS), Hyland OnBase) to perform tasks
  • Receives training in employment laws (e.g., Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Administrative Code, Equal Employment Opportunity) and Union Contract

Qualifications

To be eligible, you must be in good academic standing while pursuing a degree in Human Resources, also provide proof of Enrollment Documentation showing a minimum GPA of 2.00.

If operating a state-owned vehicle, must show proof of valid driver's license OR must provide own transportation.

  • THIS POSITION IS OVERTIME ELIGIBLE BASED ON FLSA STANDARDS. THIS POSITION IS UNCLASSIFIED PURSUANT TO O.R.C. 124.11 (A)(29).
  • The final applicant selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to appointment to test for illegal drug use. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment.
  • If operating a state-owned vehicle, must show proof of valid driver's license OR must provide own transportation.
  • All candidates applying for employment opportunities should be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship for an employment visa is not currently available for positions with the Ohio Department of Transportation.
  • The pay rate for a college intern is based upon the students' academic status:
  • Freshman and Sophomore Students: $15.46 per hour
  • Junior and Senior Students: $15.96 per hour
  • Graduate Students: $19.41 per hour

The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position.
