Finger Lakes Living Healthy AmeriCorps

Members will be trained to deliver The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP), which is a worldwide, evidence based program designed to improve the health and wellbeing of the public. Finger Lakes Living Healthy AmeriCorps members will be placed throughout Wayne, Ontario, Seneca, and Yates counties to provide direct service and expand on their host sites mission. Members will be expected to manage their own volunteers in member lead service projects. Member Training is constant and evolving. In addition to the required training expected of an AmeriCorps Member, additional training based on the member's interests, their host site’s needs and what is available through Finger Lakes County Action and its cohorts will be provided. Finger Lakes Living Healthy is an excellent opportunity to get real life experience, give back, or get started in a new direction!

Member Duties : Members will serve in 900, 675, 450 or 300 hour positions within a 12 month period. Members with be trained to be Peer Leaders of the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program. Members will commit to regular duties at a participating Host Site of their choice to promote the health and wellbeing of the community in which they serve. Positions range widely, from government office setting to community gardens. Members will partake in ongoing training. Members will participate in days of National Service Activities, MLK Day, The Day of Remembrance and I love My Parks Day.
